Russian-led troops will be sent to Kazakhstan to help control violent clashes after a hike in fuel prices triggered protests across the country.
The price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) – which is what many Kazakhs use in their cars – doubled in a few days.
On Wednesday that prompted thousands of people to take to the streets. Police used teargas and stun grenades when demonstrators wouldn’t go home.
The president has imposed a state of emergency in the former Soviet Republic on Russia’s south western border.
